I have my mobile phone, but I don’t use it for talking.
My main usage for my mobile phone is connecting to the internet.
Japanese mobile phones have multiple functions.
Electric money, GPS system, camera, music player, watch, etc…
I usually use my phone for reading news from Google mobile, Yahoo mobile, and logging into other Japanese SNS(mixi), and so on.
Many Japanese people ride the train to their office and school, and lots of people must spend half an hour or over an hour on the train, so they often use mobile phones for reading and writing emails.
In Japan, a mobile phone is called 「携帯(keitai)」 or 「ケータイ」.
I heard that in Europe or US, many people use a smartphone “BlackBerry” and “iphone” and it’s veru useful for business.
But in Japan, the smartphone is not so popular now.
We usually write an email by using one hand and numeric keypad(from 0 to 10) of mobile phone.
